Citizens' Commission on Ownership & Governance of Memorial Health System

The Citizens’ Commission consists of a panel of nine Colorado Springs citizens who are volunteering their time and expertise to lead a community discussion and analyze potential future ownership and governance models for Memorial Health System. The Commission has been chartered by the City of Colorado Springs City Council to solicit viewpoints and make recommendations concerning possible changes in Memorial Health System’s ownership and governance to accomplish the following equally-prioritized objectives:
- Minimize taxpayer financial and legal exposure
- Maximize MHS’s benefit to community, including high quality care and economic/financial impact
- Access to excellent health care designed and delivered around community needs

Memorial Hospital operates without the need for financial support from the city. It provides a tremendous service to the entire community. Memorial Hospital’s services are available to all who need them regardless of ability to pay. What is the problem? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
